Tennessee High School Football Huddle
For the second straight year, Tennessee has a new high school football playoff system.
The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association's Board of Control voted in favor of a new system that will give only the top two teams in a district an automatic berth into the Division I state tournaments. The rest of the field will be filled with a new set of criteria that starts with total wins.
The change was made after many complained that 2009's new system was to difficult to understand and too many teams with losing records made the postseason.
32 teams will qualify in 6A, 5A, 4A and 3A...24 will qualify in 2A and 1A.
