Alcoa HS Football Coach Gary Rankin on Thursday's High School Football America Radio Show

Gary Rankin, who's built two top-notch high school football teams in the Volunteer State, will be a guest on Thursday's High School Football America radio show.

Rankin, who has been a head coach for over 35-years, has won nine overall state titles, four at Alcoa and five a Riverdale.  Earlier this year, Rankin was inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame.

Rankin has posted a 71-4 record in five years at Alcoa.  His overall career record is an incredible 323-61.

This year the Iron Tornadoes will be going after their 7th straight state title.  Coach Rankin will join me on the show to talk about the string of titles, and how he hopes 14 returning seniors can keep the streak alive.

Ravenwood HS Names New Football Head Coach

Joe Rietveld is the new head football coach at Ravenwood.

Rietveld, who was a head coach at Wawasee High School in Indiana, takes over for Del Smith who resigned in mid-January before coaching a game at the school.

Two Football Coaches to Enter Tennessee High School Hall of Fame

Current Alcoa head football coach Gary Rankin and the late Jake Rudolph of Memphis University School will be inducted later this year into the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association's Hall of Fame.

Rankin has won nine state championships at Alcoa and Maryville.  Rudolph coached at MUS for 39 years, winning 295 games.

The two will be enshrined along with ten others during ceremonies on April 9th.

Knoxville Central HS Head Football Coach Resigns

After 26-years as the head football coach at Knoxville Central High School, Joel Helton has resigned.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that Helton resigned after a three-month investigation into allegations that he threatened students.

Helton's career record at Central was 194-105.
