Two Football Coaches to Enter Tennessee High School Hall of Fame

Current Alcoa head football coach Gary Rankin and the late Jake Rudolph of Memphis University School will be inducted later this year into the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association's Hall of Fame.

Rankin has won nine state championships at Alcoa and Maryville.  Rudolph coached at MUS for 39 years, winning 295 games.

The two will be enshrined along with ten others during ceremonies on April 9th.

Knoxville Central HS Head Football Coach Resigns

After 26-years as the head football coach at Knoxville Central High School, Joel Helton has resigned.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that Helton resigned after a three-month investigation into allegations that he threatened students.

Helton's career record at Central was 194-105.

Alcoa Rolls to 7th Straight Tennessee High School Football Championship

Alcoa scored on its first eight possession to beat Goodpasture 56-14 Friday to capture the Tennessee Class 3A state title, its seventh straight state championship overall.

The Tornadoes have now won their seven titles (2 in 3A, 5 in 2A) by a combined score of 278 to 88.  It's the fourth time since 2005 that Alcoa has beaten Goodpasture for the state total.

Alcoa has now won 43 straight games.
